Cotahuasi Canyon, the deepest canyon in the world, is a 3,501 m canyon of the Cotahuasi River, in the Andes mountain range, in southern Peru. It is much deeper than the Grand Canyon in the United States. The local people still maintain ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the pre-Inca stepped terraces.
