New7Wonders salute Solar Impulse
Aviator and prominent New7Wonders supporter Bertrand Piccard has designed an airplane that will fly without fuel, but with the power of the sunNew7Wonders shares much with Solar Impulse—both are led by Swiss visionaries who have dedicated their lives to pursuing passions, despite the many naysayers around them. Both projects aim to inspire people worldwide, both young and old, to pursue their dreams. Both challenge established ways of thinking and call upon people to share the vision of a better future.
Solar Impulse aims to show a world addicted to fossil fuels that a flight around the planet can be done without fuel or pollution. By providing a powerful example, this can contribute to the development of feasible renewable energies.
"We share the same goal"
Bernard Weber, founder and president of New7Wonders, expresses his admiration for his friend and countryman: “I am very proud that Bertrand Piccard was one of the earliest supporters of New7Wonders and that he took part in the Declaration of The Official New 7 Wonders of the World in Lisbon one year ago. We share the same goal of harnessing technology to further humanism. With Solar Impulse, he demonstrates again how an individual, backed by a dedicated team, can turn inspiration into motivation. From there, it becomes a challenge which, when tackled, produces a tangible result such as many only dream about. His dream of a zero-emission flight will take humanity’s dream of flight, which started to become reality only 100 short years ago, into a new dimension.”Solar Impulse has now launched a new online logbook, which can be visited at: www.solarimpulse.com.
